Jose Guadalupe "Lupe" Marquez Yniguez passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 94. Lupe was born in Pasadena, Ca on February 28, 1931, as the son of Felisitas Marquez and Everisto Yniguez. He grew up with a total of 12 siblings, where he stood as the fourth child. At the age of 2, Lupe moved to Jalisco, Mexico where he was raised on a ranch and later worked in the fields. Lupe had further taken on work opportunities at the early age of 18 to help his parents provide for their family, where he learned independent work traits. He was a very self-taught individual who took on laborious projects for his family's house, such as building a front and back porch by hand- by himself. Lupe decided to travel with a job in 1950 to Imperial Valley and stayed there for a few months. That same year he moved to Watsonville, Ca. in 1950. After, years of traveling for work opportunities, this would be the town where he settled down and met his late beloved wife Jessie H. Yniguez in 1952. also had family gatherings where they visited the beach and enjoyed each other's company. Lupe was drawn to his love of cars and collected types such as Mercury's, Sweetlines, and Chevy's. His love for cars would be passed down to generations as well as the remembrance of his foundation. A devout Catholic, Lupe was a Parishioner of Assumption Church in Watsonville, Ca where he was involved in La Guadalupana, an organization that raises money for the church. Lupe was a very hard worker; after settling in Watsonville in the mid 50's, he helped his family with their business growing strawberries. After working in the fields, he left to work for PVUSD as a custodian at Hall School. He retired after 25+ years at PVUSD and in 2001 moved from Watsonville, Ca to the Central Valley to much warmer weather. Lupe has always been known as a man who is constantly staying busy. You can always spot him outside working in the yard, whether it be trimming trees or tending to his flowers in the front of the house that he took immense pride in. Always a man of his faith, he was a Parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dos Palos. His pride and joy were always family - he was invariably delighted to hear all the conversations and laughter that filled the house, whether it be a birthday, or his favorite holiday CHRISTMAS. Lupe found bliss on any occasion that brought the family together. Lupe is survived by his eight children: Joseph Yniguez, Elizabeth Castro, Angelina McDougall, Everett Yniguez (Sandy), Ralph Yniguez, Felix Yniguez, Jesse Yniguez (Edna), Susan Zuniga (Ralph). fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings: Enriqueta, Teresa, Maria, Antonia, and Rosario. We remember the predeceased by his wife Jessie, his parents Everisto Yniguez and Felisitas Marquez, his two sisters Delfina and Josefina, as well as, his four brothers, Jose, Lucas, Andres and Refugio. In the heart of our family, Lupe was a diligent worker who was so devoted to his family. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family as a steadfast warrior, who was rich of history and tradition. Lupe had an unwavering spirit that taught us the true meaning of resilience, love and bravery - his legacy will forever inspire us as we carry his memory forward. With love from the Yniguez Family!
