William "Bill" Souza

William Souza passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2018 at his residence in Los Banos, CA at the age of 93. He was born March 25, 1924 in Newman, CA to Manuel and Luzia Souza. He graduated from Gustine High school, class of 1942. After graduating, Bill married the love of his life for 66 years, Betty Granlund. Bill served in World War II from 1943-1945 and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a very patriotic man and proud veteran. He was a talented woodworker, his passion was redwood and he created many beautiful items. He was an avid SF Giants fan. He most loved his family gatherings. The family will especially miss his ability to build or fix anything. Bill was a member of the Golden Agers and any Veteran organizations. The recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 am on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Graveside Service on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 12:30 pm at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Services are entrusted to Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hinds Hospice or VFW of Los Banos.
