Lila Francis Abud, 96, died peacefully, October 21, 2020. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Charles Fortunato Abud. She was born January 23, 1924 in Detroit to Louis and Miriam Sfeir Francis. Dearest sister of Jeanette Shalhoub (the late Albert) and predeceased by her sisters, Adele (Louis) Ammar, Clara (Joseph) Joseph, and Ida (Thomas) Joseph and brother, John (Cleamance) Francis. Admired aunt to 44 nieces and nephews, 84 grand nieces and nephews, and 35 great grand nieces and nephews. Lila graduated from St. Charles Catholic High School, Detroit in 1941 and was class Co-President. Her career spanned 30 years, first as Executive Secretary at the Detroit Times newspaper and Administrative Assistant to the Vice President at the Detroit News. She was a devoted supporter and volunteer for ALSAC (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital) for more than 20 years, serving as press agent for the non-profit organization in Detroit. Lila was kind, personable, strong in character, and generous. She carried herself with style, dignity, and grace. tioned them in her daily conversations. She made each one feel as if they were her favorite. She would often say "Just A Little Something" when giving unique gifts for birthdays, religious occasions, milestones, and holidays. Her faith in God was unshakable. She prayed the rosary every day. She will greatly be missed by all and will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1-4pm with a prayer service 2:30pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park. Private interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Due to COVID-19 restrictions rotation visitation will be held with a group of 20 at one time. Masks are required. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org In Memory of Lila Abud or to a charity of your choice.
